BIO

Godfrey W. Chugulu is a lecturer at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, College of Information and Communication Technologies, University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). He is a mobile telecommunications expert and ICT consultant with over 15 years of experience in Tanzania's telecommunications industry. Dr. Chugulu earned his BSc and MSc degrees in Telecommunications Engineering from UDSM in 2008 and 2015, respectively. In June 2022, he completed his PhD degree in Computer and IT Systems Engineering from UDSM, focusing on ICT-based solutions for modernizing legacy power grids. His doctoral research emphasized Smart Grids, particularly in enabling automatic fault detection and clearance in low-voltage distribution networks.

Dr. Chugulu’s research areas include wireless communication, space technologies, mobile Communication (2G/3G/4G/5G), smart grids, and hybrid communication architectures. He has participated in numerous consultancy projects across Tanzania, providing expertise in telecommunications, space technology, and ICT solutions. As a proponent of challenge-driven education in Tanzania, Dr. Chugulu is dedicated to bridging the gap between industry and academia, working to provide real-world solutions to societal challenges.

 

 

RESEARCH

Dr Godfrey William Chugulu is a mobile telecom expert/consultant who has more than 10 years of experience in the mobile telecommunication industry in Tanzania where he provides solutions to operators/vendors facing challenges on capacity, coverage, and interference issues. He is a Lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (ETE), College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT), University of Dar es Salaam. His research interests are Wireless Communication, Mobile Communication (2G/3G/4G/5G), Smart Grid, and Hybrid Communication Architectures. He is among the pioneers of Challenge-Driven Education (CDE) in Tanzania. a research phenomenon that tries to link academia with the industry to offer solutions to real-life challenges facing our society.
