New 3D Printing and Robotics Studio Launched at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications engineering CoICT, UDSM..

Welcoming the next gateway to opportunities and knowledge growth, Department of Electronics and Telecommunications engineering through commendable efforts of its HoD – Dr. Baraka Maiseli and TIKA have successfully set up and launched a 3D Printing and Robotics studio named Cezeri

The studio is aimed at providing quick realizations of technological innovations of instructors, students and other researchers and products development stakeholders.

While 3D printing has been taking place in the studio for a while now, this launching upgrades it to a fully equipped studio where advanced 3D printing and Robotics can be handled.

Newly set 3D printing and Robotics Lab

Led by Shabani Kamulika, 3D and Robotic Studio Leader, students have already started exploring the endless possibilities with this new equipment. Every year, students do final year projects which at some stage require 3D printing for either their enclosure, project components like gears, fans and many other parts. This is expected to bring printing services closer and to facilitate more creativity and innovation.

While students are a central target of this programe, it is anticipated that researchers from different fields can benefit from the studio by 3D printing their models and designs thereby getting room for improvement.
