BASIC LEVEL: Mobile Phone Repair and Maintenance

Description

Today’s digital world has emerged with fascinating and sophisticated technologies that have tremendously improved our lives. Mobile phones, in particular, have completely changed our traditional means of communication.  Given their countless functionalities, we usually consider mobile phones as central components to simplify tasks that could otherwise consume a considerable amount of time. Smartphones, for instance, can be installed with applications that serve different purposes: social interaction (e.g., WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube), real-time location monitoring (e.g., Google maps), health monitoring, and education. Because of these countless merits, most users are willing to spend money to ensure the proper functioning and sustainability of their mobile phones.

Similar to other electronic devices, hardware or software components of a mobile phone can be damaged, hence limiting a user to execute normal operations through the device: making/accepting calls, texting, chatting or accessing a web browser. Faulty mobile phones require repair and/or maintenance by qualified technicians or electronics engineers. This course equips you with fundamentals and necessary knowledge and skills that you can apply to repair and maintain the mobile phones of users. The course gives you the confidence to become an entrepreneur and establish your own business of repairing and maintaining mobile phones.

By June 2018, approximately 72% of the population in Tanzania had access to mobile phones. This huge market, which authorities state may rise exponentially in the near future, guarantees a sustainable self-employment opportunity to technicians of mobile phones. Therefore, upon successful completion of the course, you will have gained advanced skills to seize the opportunity and provide professional services in mobile phone repair and maintenance. In addition, you will understand various professional ethics that you must follow when repairing or maintaining the mobile phones of your clients (e.g., protection of confidential information stored in the mobile phone). More specifically, the course introduces guidelines, policies, and recommendations provided by our local regulatory authority (TCRA, Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority). In reference to TCRA provisions, all mobile phone technicians should receive professional training on how to provide quality service to their clients. This course will help you work diligently while adhering to TCRA provisions.
