Biomedical Equipment Repair and Maintenance

Description

This course aims to build capacity in Repairing and Maintenance of Biomedical Equipment. The mode of course delivery will be presentations by leading academic and industry experts along with group discussions on selected topics

Biomedical Equipment Repair and Maintenance

By the end of the course, the participants should be equipped with sufficient knowledge and professional skills to perform Repair and Maintenance of Biomedical Equipment.

(1) Motivations for pursuing a career in biomedical equipment repair and maintenance

(2) Fundamentals of repair and maintenance of biomedical equipment

(3) Theory and principal of operation of biomedical equipment:

 

  • Measuring, recording, and monitoring equipment: ECG, Pulse Oximeter, Cardiac Monitor, and Multi-Parameter Monitor
  • Modern imaging systems: ultrasound, X-Ray, CT, MRI, and PET
  • Clinical laboratory equipment: Spectrophotometer, Semi- & Full-Automatic Analyzers, Calorimeter, Microscope, and Centrifuge
  • Therapeutic equipment: Cardiac Defibrillator, Short Wave Diathermy, and Ultrasonic Diathermy.

(4) Artificial Intelligence in Medicine

(5) Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

(6) Repair and maintenance of X-Ray Machines

(7) Study Tour

(1) Students and hobbyists in electronics and electrical engineering,

(2) Biomedical engineers,

(3) Laboratory scientists/engineers, and

(4) electronics/electrical technicians.

Each registered participant will receive a copy of instructors’ slides, operational manuals of biomedical equipment, repair and maintenance guide manuals, and other important materials as well as links related to repair and maintenance of biomedical equipment.

Participants will be awarded certificates of attendance by the University of Dar es Salaam.

(2) USD 250 (Foreigners)

All payments should be made centrally through Control Numbers provided by the University of Dar es Salaam. After registration, a Control Number and invoice will be emailed to you using the information you have provided in the registration system.
