Smart Fishing Innovative Solutions for Effective Conservation and Sustainability of Tanzania Blue Economy

Project Description

In this project, we will generate three types of products: smart fishing gear, vessel tracking and emergency reporting system, and mobile application for localizing fish and controlling other hardware components of the system. In addition, we will develop processes and guidelines for smart fishing as a strategy to promote Blue Economy. Lastly, the project intends to establish services to facilitate government institutions to collect data for research purposes

Project Scope and Duration

This project is planned to take 12 months, between 1st January 2023 and 31st December 2023 (Table 1). To ensure effective monitoring and evaluation, project activities (specific objectives) will be divided into four milestones that will be reported quarterly (after every three months). This organization will ensure that progress reports are submitted timely to the UDSM management, and that execution of the specific objectives is done efficiently and in an organized manner. Table 2 shows a detailed budget required to accomplish this project. The cost for different activities is included in the Table. Overall, accomplishment of the specific objectives will be achieved for a proposed budget of TZS 198,880,000.
