Prof Abdi T. Abdalla

Education and Training

Dr. Abdi T. Abdalla received the B.Sc. degree in Electronic Science and Communication and M.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering and Information Technology from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in 2006 and 2010, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering majoring in Communication and Signal Processing, from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia, in 2016. During his study at KFUPM, he was also a lecturer at the department of Electrical Engineering. He joined the academic staff of the University of Dar es Salaam as Tutorial Assistant in 2007. Before joining the University of Dar es Salaam, he was officially engaged as Advanced level Physics teacher in high-status schools in Zanzibar and became pre-eminent in the islands. Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and also serves as Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies at the College of Information and Communication Technologies of the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. His research interests include through-the-wall radar imaging, indoor target localization, sparse arrays processing, application of compressive sensing to radar signal processing, iGrid and powerline communication, and Radio Frequency energy harvesting. Dr. Abdalla received many awards for excellence in teaching, researching, supervising graduate students, and article review in reputable journals.

Work Experience

Dr Abdalla joined the academic staff of the University of Dar es Salaam as Tutorial Assistant in 2007. Before joining the University of Dar es Salaam, he was officially engaged as an Advanced level Physics teacher in high-status schools in Zanzibar and became pre-eminent in the islands. Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and also serves as Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies at the College of Information and Communication Technologies of the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. His research interests include through-the-wall radar imaging, indoor target localization, sparse arrays processing, application of compressive sensing to radar signal processing, and Radio Frequency energy harvesting. Dr Abdalla received many awards for excellence in teaching, researching, supervising graduate students, and article reviewing articles in reputable journals.
